’‘Quand Fogo renaît de ses cendres’ est un reportage réalisé en automne 2014 à Fogo Island, Terre-Neuve, Canada.L’économie de l’île Fogo décline depuis que des quotas de pêche ont été instaurés. La plupart des jeunes quittent l’île pour travailler dans le pétrole en Alberta. Mais Fogo loin d’avoir dit son dernier mot, se relève grâce à la naissance d’un projet de tourisme innovant mélangeant un hôtel de luxe, de l’architecture et des résidences d’artistes. ‘Quand Fogo renaît de ses cendres’ est une exploration de Fogo, un lieu ou ‘contraste’ rime avec ‘harmonie’ ou l’art contemporain cohabite avec un peuple de pêcheurs.loin des métropoles branchées, un hôtel de luxe peu discret se fond dans la ruralité...
When Fogo Rises from the Ashes’ is a photo series taken in Fall 2014 on Fogo Island, Newfoundland, Canada. Fogo Island’s economy has been weakening since the establishment of a fishing quota. Most of the young residents left the island to work in Alberta in the oil industry. But the fishing island is rising from its ashes with the birth of an innovative tourism project involving a luxury hotel, architecture and artist residencies. ‘When Fogo Rises from the Ashes’ is an exploration of Fogo Island, a place where “contrast” is synonym to “harmony,” where contemporary art coexists with fishermen’s tradition.
